The Prodigy – Omen (Dirty Disco Youth Remix)

The Prodigy is always a favorite to remix, but it's rare that I get an e-mail telling me why the remixer didn't like the original. Usually it's "Oh I loved it and I wanted to put my spin on it." But Germany's Dirty Disco Youth was dead honest, stating that the original's breaks/dnb feel wasn't his thing, but he felt something special about it and wanted to create a hard electro monster out of it.

Well, goal achieved. His "Omen" remix is hard-hitting, keeping some of the elements of the original which will win over Prodigy fans as well as new kids. Like with his Deadmau5 remix, the Omen cut is nasty and gritty. Definitely something DJs should have in their digital crates.

With support from top-shelf acts like Boys Noize and the Bloody Beetroots, a second EP in the works, and official booking, Dirty Disco Youth is definitely an artist to watch this year.

Trouble Andrew – Chase Money (The American Dream Team REMIX)

We got this in the mail the day of the Inauguration, but as I said, Subdrive operations were out because we were in DC rocking out with the millions of our fellow crazed Americans.

The American Dream Team boys wanted to celebrate and welcome the 44th President with arms wide open by starting off the new presidency with a spankin' new remix of Trouble Andrew's "Chase Money".

If you're still in DC this weekend or live there, do not miss TADT performing live at the Rock & Roll Hotel tomorrow Friday the 23rd. Seriously, DC, go check them out!

The Beatles – Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club (Streetlab Remix)

We sure do love Streetlab around these parts. They just sent us their latest cut from their upcoming EP titled Bootlegs and B-Sides filled with the aforementioned, of course.

You may know this track if you downloaded their SELEKTOR mix recently. It's The Beatles' classic "Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club" with a very familiar Streetlab touch: the deep bass, pumping beat, and that energetic but laid back energy the boys lay onto their tracks.

If you're in NYC on February 13th, check them out performing at the Apple Store SoHo Theater!

Passion Pit – Sleepyhead (Streetlab Remix)

Subdrive faves, Streetlab, sent us their remix of Passion Pit's "Sleepyhead". They took the original concept and fleshed out the sonic scape, adding much more bass and a thicker kick drum with a driving beat. Still dreamy and chill, but with some more oomph. I honestly prefer it to the original and it's a perfect track to throw on to open up a set or party.

we are ENFANT TERRIBLE – I Can’t Help Myself

Ok, idea-bubble time! Doodle the 8-bit sounds of Crystal Castles with just a little more rock flying around it, then scribble in some indie-rock vocals (not screaming, definitely not screaming), and you've got the pop-8-bit rock of we are ENFANT TERRIBLE.

Based out of Paris (France) the group is going on an extensive European tour and covering a lot of bases which should see them touch down in your neck of the woods if you live over there.
